Nights On Venus
Smooth, atmospheric, hypnotic, elegant, and ethereal are all words that have been used to describe the instrumental music of Nights on Venus and the new release - a remake of Kool and the Gang's classic instrumental, "Summer Madness" - is no exception.
"Summer Madness" was originally recorded by Kool and the Gang and can be found on their album "Light Of Worlds" from 1974. What I've tried to do in covering this song is retain the feel and vibe of the original while offering up my own take on this classic on its 40th anniversary with the addition of piano and vibes. First of all, I've always loved this song and in recording it, I've stayed as close to the original as possible. It is the single and advance track from the upcoming 4th album by Nights on Venus, "Perspective," which will be released in November of 2014.
Recording information: Recorded during April, 2014 at the 'Cave Recording Studio, Golden, Colorado, Craig C. Thomas - all instruments, engineering and production Mastered by Brian Hazard at Resonance Mastering, Huntington Beach, California Cover artwork by CCT
“Nights On Venus just released a new single, “Summer Madness”. This slow, instrumental piece relies on creating an ever-changing moody atmosphere to relax and calm you. With slower, jazzier ambiance that collectively builds throughout, this well done Nights On Venus release is one for the crowd that likes to slow dance and take it easy when listening to music.” - Curt Dennis, Bluestribute.net (May 28, 2014)
